Services for Danny Ivy, 61, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 9, 2009, in the Hale Center High School Auditorium, with Rev. Jimmy Cameron, pastor of the First United Methodist Church and Rev. Ron Brunson, pastor of the Cowboy Church in Plainview, TX, officiating. Family burial was follow in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mr. Ivy died Thursday, February 5, 2009, in Lubbock, TX. Danny was born in Haskell, TX on November 8, 1947 to Lem and Lydia Ivy. Danny attended school at Paint Creek High School where he graduated in 1966. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Agriculture Education in 1970. He married Valerie Lassetter on July 27, 1968 in Stamford, TX. He taught agriculture science for 39 years, 4 of those years were in Farwell, TX and from 1974 until January 16, 2009, at Hale Center High School. Danny also worked with the State FFA Convention. Danny was a member of the Hale Center Volunteer Fire Department, the Masonic Lodge of Hale Center, the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association and the Living Water Emmaus. He served as an instructor at area fire schools as well as being an instructor at the Texas A&M Fire School for 22 years. Danny was also a member of the Hale Center First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Valerie of Hale Center, TX, his Mother, Lydia Ivy of Plainview, TX,2 sons, Jon Ivy and his wife Minde of Midland, TX and Kevin Paul Ivy of Lubbock, TX and 2 granddaughters, Jaleigh and Kenley Ivy of Midland, TX.
