Cruz Ramirez Luera, Sr.

Rosary for Cruz Ramirez Luera, Sr, 88, of Abernathy, TX, will be recited 7:00 pm Thursday, November 10, 2022, in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Wood, pastor, officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, November 11, 2022, in the same church with the same officiant. Viewing will be held at Abell Funeral Home, from 12:00pm until 6:00 pm Thursday November 10, 2022, at Abell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Cruz R. Luera, Sr. died at his home November 8, 2022. Mr. Luera was born December 1, 1933 in Aspermont, TX to Rosalio and Francisca (Ramirez) Luera. Cruz worked for John Deere for 45 years. He moved to Abernathy in 1971 from Muleshoe, TX. He enjoyed watching wresting and was a self-taught mechanic. He was a very simple and humble man. He loved spending time with his children, grand children and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife, Risa Luera, brothers, Delfino, Terezo and Jacinto, a sister Antonia Reynero, and a son, Jesse Luera. He is survived by his children, Cruz Luera, Jr. and wife Inez of Wallis, TX, Minerva Esquibel and late husband Ralph of Plainview, TX, Rosalio Luera and wife Gloria, Daniel Luera and Gilbert Luera and wife Jesusa all of Lubbock, David Luera, Christina Luera and husband Jay Cordova and Linda Luera Lopez and husband Albert, Jr all of Abernathy. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Elena Hernandez of Lubbock, Inez Garza and Nancy Solis of Muleshoe.
