Memorial service for Craig Sanders, 35, of Hale Center, TX, are set for 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in the Northside Baptist Church, Abernathy, TX, with Chris Sanders officiating. Cremation and services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Craig died Monday, October 28, 2024 in Hale Center, TX. He was born, Christopher Craig Sanders, Jr., June 5, 1989, in Lubbock, TX, to Chris and Lisa (Birkett) Sanders. He was raised in Cotton Center and attended Cotton Center schools. He was a member of the Elks Football team and restored a 1915 Farmall F20 tractor. Craig showed lambs, sheep and cattle and loved to ride dirt bikes. He was a country boy, and could often be found helping his Dad around the farm and tarping modules during harvest. Shortly after graduation from Cotton Center High School, in 2007, he enlisted in the US Marines. He then returned to Hale Center and married Ashley Shaw, November 17, 2013 in Hale Center. Craig is survived by his wife, Ashley Sanders, 3 children, Caden, Lizzie and Kenzie Sanders, Parents, Chris and Lisa Sanders, 2 brothers, Clayton and Ace Sanders, all of Hale Center and a sister, Linsy Sanders of Kress, TX. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Vicki Wacasey of Greenville, TX and Randy Birkett of Cotton Center, paternal grandmother, Carol Sue Sanders of McKinney, TX as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
