Services for Connie Burnett, 51, of Cotton Center, TX, were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 5, 2012, in the First Baptist Church, Cotton Center, with Rev. J. D. Templeton and Rev. Randy Land officiating. Burial followed in the Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. The family received friends Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Burnett died Sunday, September 2, 2012, in Houston, TX. She was born March 11, 1961 in Winter Park, FL, to Rex Hardy Taylor and Nell (Hunt) Taylor. She grew up in Greenville and Caddo Mills, TX and earned her Bachelors from Stephen F. Austin. She taught Business School in the Dallas area and served as a Journeyman in Brazil for 2 years. After returning from Brazil, she became employed with ARCO Oil and Gas and worked in Yemen for a short time before returning to Dallas, TX. She married Kyle Burnett on August 13, 1994, in Greenville, TX. She taught 2nd grade at Cotton Center ISD for 5 years until becoming ill in the Summer of 2008. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center, TX. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nell Taylor, when Connie was age 14. Her father, Rex Taylor, also preceded her in death and a brother, Chris Davis Cole in 2001. Connie is survived by her husband Kyle Burnett and 2 daughters, Abbie and Macie Burnett all of Cotton Center, TX, Step-Mother, Linda Shockley and husband Charles of Branson, Missouri, and 3 siblings, Stephen Grady Taylor of Coppell, TX, Mark Nelson Taylor of Lewisville, TX and Becky Lynn Veak of the Phoenix, AZ area. Her nephews served as pallbearers.
