Services for Rev. Claude Mullins, Jr.,, 98, of Abernathy, TX, will be held 11:00 AM Monday October 18, 2021 at the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Burns officiating and Rev. Bill Stubblefield delivering the Eulogy. Military Graveside Services will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery. The family will gather to receive friends and family on Sunday October 17, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Rev. Mullins died Monday, October 11, 2021 in Abernathy, TX. He was born June 26, 1923 in Marshall, TX to Claude & Martha (Brooks) Mullins, Sr. He was raised in Marshall and DeBerry, TX and then enlisted in the US Army serving from 1943-1946 during World War II earning a Purple Heart. Rev. Mullins married Rosie Lee Rollison on August 16, 1949 in Deberry. They moved to the West Texas Area where he farmed for 70 years retiring at the age of 89. He began preaching and was ordained at Bethel Baptist Church in Abernathy, later becoming Pastor in Hale Center, TX and Dimmitt, TX. Rev. Mullins was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Lee Mullins, his parents, Claude & Martha Mullins, Sr., two sons Oliver Mullins and Claude Edward Mullins, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters. He is survived by his children Rosetta Bradley, Winford Mullins and wife, Willie, Joyce Bradley all of Lubbock, TX, Annell Coleman and husband, Howard of San Antonio, Catherine Beaver, Peggy Palmer and husband, Theodore, all of Abernathy, Michael Mullins of Lubbock, Vicki Mullins of Lawton, OK, and Martha Williams of Lubbock, 36 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, sister Martha Gray of Dallas, TX, and a host of relatives and friends.
