Services for Clara Ida Neis, 89, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Plainview, TX with Rev. David Symm officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Neis died Sunday, June 8, 2008, in Lubbock, TX. Born September 1, 1918 in Littlefield, TX, she was next to the youngest of 8 children born to Fredrich Lueck and Minnie Smidth Lueck. She married Loren F. Neis on October 13, 1935 in Littlefield, TX, and he preceded her in death November 12, 1993. She moved to Petersburg, TX in 1943 from Abernathy, TX and back to Abernathy in 2005. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plainview, TX, where she was an active member in the Quilting Club. She was a volunteer for RSVP and the Petersburg Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by 3 grandsons, Jeffrey, Jeremy and Kerry Neis. She is survived by a son, Reginald Neis and his wife Monica of Belton, TX, 2 daughters, Ida Bruington and her husband Bill of Petersburg, TX, and Charlotte Becton of Lubbock, TX, 5 grandchildren, Dennis Bruington and his wife Jackie, Kevin Bruington, Monty Becton and his wife Patti, Jerod Becton and Karen Phillips, and 5 great grandchildren, Kindell & Kathryn Bruington, Sarah Neis, Matthew and Mark Phillips. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Abernathy Cemetery or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Abell Funeral Home
