Services for Charlie Sylvestor Pickard, 79, of Knox City, TX, and formerly of Abernathy, TX, were held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 24, 2002, in the Bethel Baptist Church, Abernathy, with Rev. Willie R. Bolton, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home. He was born on May 31, 1923 to Willie and Elvessis Pickard. He was raised in Calvert, TX and lived in Houston, TX before moving to Abernathy in 1959, where he remained until 1982. He was living in Knox City at the time of his death. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Maude Pickard Britton and Velzora Pickard Scott. He is survived by; aunt, Amanda Ealleam of Port Arthur, TX. 3 nieces, Gwen Bagley of Lubbock, TX, Vicki Smith of Austin, TX and Shirley Britton of Atlanta, GA. 7 nephews, Lonzil Britton of Amarillo, TX, Danny Britton of Denton, TX, James Scott, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Eddie Scott and Charles Ray Scott both of Houston, TX, Kenneth Scott of Dallas, TX and Larry Scott of Bloomington, IL.
