Charles Owens

Graveside services for Charles Owens, 87, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Steve Gauntt officiating. The family receiveed friends at Abell Funeral Home Tuesday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Owens died Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Lubbock, TX. He was born May 24, 1922 in Commerce, TX. He married Mozelle Owens on February 23, 1945 in Garden City, KS. He was a longtime Lubbock resident and was a farmer and rancher and enjoyed woodworking, giving and cars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Owens on January 1, 2003, granddaughter Jiminey Owens in 1975 and his parents, Raymond and Maude Owens. He is survived by a son, Jim Owens and his wife Sandy of Lubbock, TX, 1 granddaughter, Cinnamon Nieman of Lubbock, TX, 2 great grandchildren, Chance Nieman and Jiminey Nieman. The family suggests memorials be sent to the South Plains Wildlife Rehab Center, 3308 95th Street, Lubbock, TX 79423 or to St. Jude Hospital or Vista Care Hospice of Lubbock. Abell Funeral Home
