Services for Charles Wayne Evans, 65, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 28, 2003, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemtery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Evans died Saturday, October 25, 2003, in Lubbock, TX. He was born on May 19, 1938 in Afton, TX, to Elgin and Velma Harris Evans. He moved to Abernathy in 1950 from Muleshoe, TX. He married Patsy Turner in 1956 in Abernathy, was a member of the First Baptist Church, and had been employed by Diamond Shamrock, Abernathy Terminal for 35 years before retiring in 1996. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Evans of Abernathy, TX, 2 sons, Perry and his wife Dee Ann Evans of Carrollton, TX, and Brian and his wife Jane Evans of Lubbock, TX. 1 sister, Rita Houston of Abernathy, TX 5 grandchildren The family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
