Graveside services for Carl Phillips, 86, of Abernathy, were held on Saturday, June 16, 2001, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Jeff Petillo officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, Tx. He was born on May 28, 1915 in Fedora, South Dakota, and moved with his family to Abernathy in 1916. He married Juanita Harvey on July 5, 1947 in Lubbock, Tx. He was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church. He is survived by; Wife, Juanita Phillips of Abernathy, Tx. 2 Daughters, Jerry Dell Oswalt of Abernathy, Tx., and Vanessa Jones of Stockton, Ca. 1 Brother, Virgil Phillips of Plainview, Tx. 1 Sister, Helen Taylor of Marble Falls, Tx. 5 Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren 1 Great Great Grandchild The family suggests memorials be sent to the Abernathy Cemetery or to a favorite charity.
