Calvin Barrett

Services for Calvin W. Barrett, 81, of Cotton Center, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2009, in the Cotton Center First Baptist Church with Rev. J. D. Templeton, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mr. Barrett died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in Plainview, TX. He was born June 23, 1927 in Earth, TX and moved to Cotton Center with his family in 1938. He married Glenda Barnes on December 20, 1948 in Ropesville, TX. He was a member of the Cotton Center Baptist Church, had served on the Cotton Center School Board, and was a part owner of the Cotton Center LPG. He is survived by his wife, Glenda of Cotton Center, TX, 3 sons, Donald Barrett and his wife Jody of Austin, TX, Dennis Barrett and his wife Debbie of Pagosa Springs, CO and Darryl Barrett and his wife Elaine of Hale Center, TX, one daughter, Beverly Johnson and her husband Wesley of Cotton Center, TX, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He is also survived by 6 sisters, Virginia Easley of Dumas, TX, Josephine Schulz and Trudy Downs both of Lubbock, TX, Wanda Horsford and husband Ed of Cotton Center, TX, Faye Bartlett and husband Guy of Abernathy, TX and Darlene Ashby of Hale Center, TX.
