Services for C. H. McCluskey, 82, of Abernathy, TX were held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 27, 2005, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Center Plains Cemetery, Cotton Center, TX, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home Friday, August 26, 2005, from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Mr. McCluskey died August 24, 2005 in Hendrick Hospital in Abilene, TX. He was born June 3, 1923 in Cohoma, TX and graduated from Forsan High School. After graduation he served in the United States Air Corp during WWII, serving with the 27th Fighter Group for three and a half years in Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He was decorated with five Bronze Stars, Distinguished Unit, 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Good Conduct Medal. He married Emma Frances Sageser on April 6, 1947 in Cotton Center, TX and worked in the oil field at Forsan until they moved to Cotton Center to begin farming. He later managed cotton gins at North Spade, Aiken and Friona, TX. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Abernathy. His wife, Emma Frances McCluskey preceded him in death June 28, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Emma Jo Cook, March 23, 2000 and two sisters, Jessie Minter and Faye Coonce. He is survived by a daughter and husband, Charlotte and Jim McCright of Stamford, TX, a granddaughter, Jamie and Jim Bob Mote of Happy, TX, 2 grandsons, Kevin McCright and his wife Jaime of Stamford, TX and Bobby Joe Beach of Tahoka, TX, 2 sisters, Ruby and Curtis Wood of Zepher, TX and Blanche Becker of Big Spring, TX and a brother Neal McCluskey of Zepher, TX.
