Services for Bruce Davis, 89, of Petersburg, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2010, in t he Petersburg First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowery officiating. Burial followed in the Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Davis died at his home in Petersburg, Tuesday, January 5, 2010. He was born June 25, 1920 in Haskell, TX to Ira Bud Davis and Era Lingood Davis. He married Ruth Davis in Stamford, TX on January 17, 1942 and she preceded him in death June 1, 2000. He married Evelyn Taylor Kurklin on April 5, 2001 in Del Rio, TX. He moved to Petersburg in 1950 where he farmed and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Helen Miller and Kathleen Brock. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Davis of Petersburg, TX, a son, Randy Davis of Odessa, TX, one daughter, Debbie Noel of Petersburg, TX, a Brother, IB Davis of Ralls, TX, stepson, Gene Kurklin and stepdaughter, Pat Avery both of Petersburg, TX, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church, Petersburg, or to Hospice of Lockney, Lockney, TX. Abell Funeral Home
