Graveside services for Bonnie Wayne Smith, 79, of Navasota, TX, were held at 10:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2007, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Dennis Smith, son of Mr. Smith, officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Smith died Monday, April 2, 2007, in Navasota, TX. He was born on December 7, 1927 in Eastland County, TX. He married Tootsie Evans on June 1, 1947 in Abernathy, TX, she preceded him in death on November 26, 1999. He was raised in Ranger, TX and drilled water wells all over the Abernathy area while living in Abernathy for many years. He served in the United States Merchant Marines. He is preceded in death by a son, Rhonnie Doyle Smith in 1990. He is survived by a son, Dennis Wayne Smith of Iola, TX, a sister, Eula B. Kitchens of California, 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the American Lung Cancer Society. Abell Funeral Home
