Betty Lee Grant

Memorial services for Betty Lee Grant, 84, of Abernathy, TX will be held 10:00 AM Monday, November 29, 2021 at Abernathy United with Rev. Janet Edwards officiating. Services and cremation are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Grant died on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on October 8, 1937 in Lovell, WY to James Leslie and Annie (Oberlander) Jacobs. Betty was raised in Powell, WY and graduated from Powell High School in 1955. She then attended Eastern Montana College of Education graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in 1960. Betty married Gary Dean Grant on March 4, 1960 in Billings, MT. They moved to Abernathy in 1962 where she taught school, retiring from Abernathy ISD in 1992. She served as past president of Texas Ground Water Association Women's Auxiliary and was a member of the former Abernathy First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Grant loved traveling and reading books. She was a great gourmet cook who enjoyed many tea parties with her granddaughters. Mrs. Grant is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Grant on July 13, 2008. She is survived by her son Ken Grant and wife, Rhonda, of Lubbock; daughter Kim Ford and husband, Gregg, of Abernathy; 4 granddaughters Sarah Hall and husband, Matthew; Lisa Skinner and husband, Bradley; Ashlee Redmond and husband, Sky; and Whitney Bolfing and husband, Beau; and 4 great grandchildren Harper Hall, Raylan Skinner, Shase Redmond and Sawyer Redmond.
