Services for Bernice Conn, 99, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Friday, March 14, 2003, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Conn died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Olton, TX. She was born on November 10, 1903 in Hood County, TX. She married W. H. Conn on December 24, 1921 in Granbury, Tx, he preceded her in death in 1958. She moved to Hale County in 1930 from Briscoe County, TX. She was a former member of the County Line Baptist Church. She moved to Abernathy in 1959 from County Line and became a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by a son, Daphne Conn and a great granddaughter, Sydney Whitfield. Survivors; 1 son, Buford Conn of Abernathy, TX. 1 daughter, Joyce Whitfield of Carlsbad, NM 3 brothers, Seth Edens of Glenrose, TX, Bill Edens of Clovis, NM, and Boyce Edens of Albuquerque, NM. 1 sister, Grace Baker of Houston, TX. 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 13, 2003, from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The family suggests memorials be sent to Runningwater Draw Care Center, 800 W. 13th Street, Olton, TX 79064 or to the Abernathy First Baptist Church, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311.
