Services for Arthur Cheves, 90, of Plainview, TX, were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in the 11th & Amarillo Street Church of Christ, Plainview, TX, with J Henderson and Lewis Senter officiating. Burial followed in the Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Cheves died Sunday morning, July 21, 2002, in Plainview. He was born on January 7, 1912 in Oklahoma. He married Julia Louise Newton on November 27, 1933 in Hale County, TX. He had lived in Petersburg, TX from 1948 until moving to Hart, TX in 1956 where they lived until 1974 when they moved to Plainview. He was a member of the 11th & Amarillo Street Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lee Cheves, July 9, 1953. Survivors wife, Julia Cheves of Plainview, TX, 4 daughters, Rita Harvey of Willard, Missouri, Judith Davis and Brenda Farr both of Lubbock, TX, and Kathy Norris of St. Cloud, Florida. 10 grandchildren 9 great grandchildren The family suggests memorials be sent to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch or to the 11th & Amarillo Street Church of Christ.
