Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 1, 2004, in the same church with Rev. Timothy Judd officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Martinez died Sunday, November 28, 2004, at his home in Abernathy. He was born January 8,, 1921 in Lamar, CO. He married Frances Gomez in 1948, she preceded him in death in 1959. He moved to Abernathy in 1972 from the Cotton Center / Planiview areas of Hale County, TX. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. He is survived by 4 sons, Richard G. Martinez of Luling, TX, Trinidad G. Martinez of New Deal, TX, Lorenzo G. Martinez of Amarillo, TX and Joe L. Martinez of Abernathy, TX, 2 daughters, Frances M. Asebedo of Esterville, Iowa and Catalina G. Rosales of Greeley, CO, 18 grandchildren, 44, great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Tomas Martinez of Vilencia, CA and Gomisendo Martinez of Phoenix, AZ. Abell Funeral Home
