Services for Ann McCune, 86, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 25, 2016, in the Abernathy First United Methodist Church with Rev. Janet Edwards, pastor, and Rev. Mike O'Donnell, officiating. Burial will follow in the Strip Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Sunday, July 24th from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Mrs. McCune died in Lubbock, Friday, July 22, 2016. She was born July 18, 1930 in Abernathy to Travis E. and Mabel (Pipken) Lutrick. Following her graduation from Abernathy High School she attended and graduated from beauty school. She married Harold Drew McCune, May 25, 1949 in Abernathy and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2010. She was employed by Hi Plains Drilling as a bookeeper and later went to work for the Abernathy ISD, where she retired after 20 years as librarian. She was an active member at the First United Methodist Church, serving in several capacities. She was one of the organizers that brought Meals on Wheels to Abernathy, she was a member of the Senior Citizens and was an avid Lady Raider Basketball fan. Mrs. McCune was preceded in death by her parents. Travis E. and Mabel Lutrick and two brothers, Charles Lutrick and Lewis Lutrick. She is survived by 3 children, Dreuann Decker and husband Mark of Lubbock, TX, Wayne McCune and wife Linda of San Angelo, TX and Lee McCune and wife Jan of Lubbock, 4 grandchildren, Chad Shadden and wife Mindy, Brad Shadden and wife McKinsey, all of Abernathy and Catlin McCune and Easton McCune of Lubbock, 5 great grandchildren, Cheyann, Scarlett, Brody, Maverick and Barrett, a brother, Harvey Lutrick and wife Faye of Lubbock and a sister, Bell Baker of LaPorte, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Methodist Church, Children programs, 704 Ave. D, Abernathy, TX 79311.
