Graveside services for Andy Adkisson, 56, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 20, 2008, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Chaplain Ken Cartwright officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Adkisson died Thursday, September 18, 2008, in Lubbock, TX. He was born January 24, 1952 in Lubbock, TX. He resided at the Lubbock State School since 1970. The Adkisson family also wishes to express their appreciation for the Lubbock State School Staff for the loving care they provided to Andy. Survivors include his parents, Gid and Marie Adkisson of Abernathy, TX, 2 brothers, Gid B. Adkisson, III of Clovis, CA and Tom Adkisson of Winston Salem, NC, 3 sisters, Annette Ortega of Amarillo, TX, Suzanna Pointer of Humble, TX and Linda Cohea of Franktown, CO, a special cousin, Button Watkins of Florence, OR and a special friend of the family, Bettie Hardin of Abernathy, TX, 13 nieces and nephews and 4 great nieces and nephews.
