Mrs. Cannon passed away on December 28, 2017 in College Station, at the age of 98.

She was born August 15, 1919 in Chico, TX to H. L. and Virgie Jay (Denney) Faith.  Alvine was a talented, strong woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She and her husband W.W. (Billy) Cannon were married December 25, 1933 and spent their lives in Hale Center, TX. Alvine and Billy farmed side by side. They raised a garden, canned and she would drive the tractor, when necessary.  She was a "Rosie the Riveter" type homemaker.  She was an artist, painted landscapes in oil and was a beautiful seamstress.  In later years, she and the neighbor ladies painted porcelain dolls, and Alvine would design and make the doll's clothing.

Her father H. L. (Hubert) Faith was mayor of Hale Center two different times; H. L. passed away November 8, 1988 at the age of 88.  Her mother, Virgie J. Faith passed away on November 7, 1983 at the age of 82.

Alvine was the oldest daughter in her family.  Her youngest brother, Smokey (Doyle) Faith passed away on December 8. 2017. Her middle brother, John Thomas (JT, Slick)) Faith died March 3, 1989.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharry Billene Cannon; two granddaughters:  Rebecca Raylene Lewis (wife of Kyle Alan Lewis) and Elizabeth Anne Calvin (wife of James Bradley Calvin); and five great grandchildren:  William Kyler Lewis, 13; Hailey Rilynn Lewis, 11; Kadyn Alan Lewis, 8; McKenna Elise Calvin, 5; and Bram Alexander Calvin, 22 months.

The family suggests donations be made to a favorite charity like The Texas Children's Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project, or the American Heart Association, as Alvine loved flowers and plants, but preferred them still growing in her yard or their garden.
