Graveside services for Alfredo M. Marez, Jr., 72, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 25, 2021, in the Abernathy Cemetery. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Friday, September 24, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mr. Marez died Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Lubbock, TX. He was born June 1, 1949 in Kingsville, TX to Alfredo Marez, Sr. and Eva (Montoya) Marez. He married Alicia Martinez August 18, 1983 in Georgetown, TX. Mr. Marez was raised in the Hale County area and farmed for the Goble brothers until retiring in 2013. He played the drums with his Dad while growing up, and they had a little band together. He enjoyed time with his family and loved singing to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He liked working on, and repairing cars. He was preceded in death by parents, Alfredo Marez, Sr. in 1999, and Eva Marez in 1983, siblings, Yolanda, Lydia, Arturo, Joel, Angela. He is survived by his wife Alicia Marez, 2 children, Lisa Salinas and Alfredo Marez III, all of Abernathy, 3 grandchildren, Toribio Salinas, Jr., Marina Godinez and Jessa Leigh Lemons, 6 great grandchildren, Jacob Lee Salinas, Xavier Salinas, Izsac Salinas, Naiomi Salinas, Niaylli Salinas, and Alicia Salinas, 2 siblings, Eva Trevino of Fresno, CA, Margarito Marez and wife Sue of Lubbock.
