Adrion James "A.J." Phillips, 92, of Lubbock, TX died Friday, February 16, 2007 in Lubbock. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Freeman- Abell Funeral Home in Hale Center, TX. Mr. Phillips was born October 30, 1914 In Hess, OK. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry, in 1944 he received a bronze star for valor. He farmed in the Hale Center area, where he was a longtime resident. He was a member of the Hale Center First Baptist Church. He later resided at Christian Manor in Plainview for 12 years, then moved to Bender Terrace in Lubbock. He is survived by a sister, Evelyn Phillips Horton of Ft. Worth, TX and his caretakers which included Bertha Owens of Plainview, TX, Carl and Karen Pelphrey of Lubbock, TX. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 2 sisters. It is suggested that memorial contributions be sent to Vista Care Hospice, 1010 Slide Road, Lubbock, Texas 79416 Abell Funeral Home
