Services for Addy Lois (James) Dunn, 76, of New Deal and Idalou, TX areas, were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in the Idalou First United Methodist Church with Rev. Brooks Martin, pastor, Rev. Joel Perez and Rev. Josh Reglin officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Mrs. Dunn went to be with her Lord on Saturday evening, February 4, 2012, at her home. She was born May 21, 1935 in Collin County, TX to T. C. and Alice (Rains) James. She attended Josephine, New Deal and Friendship Schools. She married the love of her life, Franklin Dunn, on February, 22, 1952 in Portales, N.M. She was a lifetime resident of the New Deal Community and member of New Deal and Idalou Methodist Churches where she served on numerous committees and was a delegate at the annual Church Conferences. Her love of politics led her on a path to serve as precinct chairman and election judge for many years. She also enjoyed the Lubbock County Women's Cotton Promotion Association. She was a fantastic cook and used this gift to bless those in need, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was employed at Liberty Gin and was a member of the Lubbock Greeter Service welcoming new families to town. She was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to her children and grandchildren. "She was the engine of the fans going to the game !" She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Thomas James of Anton, TX and Lowery James of Lubbock, TX She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Franklin, and her 4 children, Rickey Dunn and wife Karen of Brownfield, TX, Randy Dunn and wife Teresa of Quitman, TX, Robin Dunn and wife Cheryl of Abernathy, TX and Rondi Reynolds and husband Cameron of Bryan, TX. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, K'dee and Mike Chenault, Miranda and Darrin Asmussen, Jered and Kelli Dunn, Lauren and Corey Backer, Kyle Dunn, Kendall Dunn, Nick Reynolds and Seth Reynolds and 8 Great Grandchildren with 3 on the way. She is also survived by a brother Dwain James of Houston, TX and a sister Jimmie Black of Raonoke, VA. On behalf of the Dunn Family, they would like to express their appreciation to her devoted caregivers, Tammy Brewer, Stacy Arnett, Mariah Brewer, Jeannie Pierson and Jennifer Mejia. They also wish to thank Interim Home Health Care and Hospice for their service and compassion.
